The world changes when young people are well.
Mental health is not widely talked about in Malawi. Young people want this to change.
We use the proceeds of the Taksvärkki fundraising campaign to support the work with young people in six countries. In Malawi, young people learn about their rights and well-being in youth groups and receive peer support.
What is Taksvärkki?
- The original Taksvärkki fundraising campaign has been used to promote young people’s rights since 1967.
- On Taksvärkki Day young people work for one day. Earnings from the work are donated to the Taksvärkki fundraising campaign.
- Taksvärkki Day can be organized anytime during the school year.

”Since I joined the youth club my life has changed a lot. I have learnt a lot that I did not know previously.”
Sumiya, 15, Malawi

How do we increase together the well-being of young people? For example:
15 €
For 15 euros, one young person in Kenya receives a one-day of training in climate-sustainable small business. Young people learn climate-resilient ways to generate income.
20 €
For 20 euros, one young person in Mozambique will participate in a three-day training on disability rights and mental well-being peer support. The young people will learn advocacy skills and will be able to support other young people in the future.
90 €
For 90 euros, one youth group in Malawi will learn new skills and organize activities such as sports events and campaigns for young people in their home region for a year. The groups will share information on, among other things, youth rights, sexual health, well-being and inclusion.

The proceeds from the Taksvärkki fundraising are used to support youth advocacy work in Guatemala, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Nepal and Sierra Leone. Taksvärkki’s partner organization’s projects promote equality.

Promoting youth participation
Young people work together with adults and decision-makers. Taksvärkki supports conditions for young people to participate in the development of their own communities.
