More hope for young people
Young people in Finland and Kenya are concerned, for example, about their livelihoods, job insecurity and the role of artificial intelligence in the future.
During the 2026–2027 academic year, we will be boosting young people’s hope. We want every young person to be able to have confidence in the future and to shape it.
With the proceeds from the Taksvärkki fundraising campaign, we support work with young people. In Kenya, young people living and working on the streets receive support from their associations to build a safe life for themselves. They take part in training programmes that help them set up a small business or find a job.
What is Taksvärkki?
- The original Taksvärkki fundraising campaign has been used to promote young people’s rights since 1967.
- On Taksvärkki Day young people work for one day. Earnings from the work are donated to the Taksvärkki fundraising campaign.
- Taksvärkki Day can be organized anytime during the school year.

This is how we can work together to give young people hope:
15€
For 15 euros, two young people in Kenya are taking part in a training course on financial and entrepreneurial skills. The savings and small loans provided by the youth’s own associations help young people to set up small businesses.
35€
For 35 euros, one member of a youth association in Kenya is taking part in a course on mental wellbeing and can act as a peer support for other young people.
55€
For 55 euros, a youth group in Guatemala carries out awareness-raising and advocacy work on young people’s rights for a month.

How it all works in Taksvärkki fundraising
Taksvärkki (ODW) fundraising
Youth in Finland raise funds by working for a day and donating their pay to Taksvärkki campaign.
Partner organizations
The proceeds from the Taksvärkki fundraising are used to support youth advocacy work in Guatemala, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Nepal and Sierra Leone. Taksvärkki’s partner organization’s projects promote equality.
Promoting youth participation
Young people work together with adults and decision-makers. Taksvärkki supports conditions for young people to participate in the development of their own communities.
